Artist's Description

This is a memorial portrait of my Mother done on hot pressed watercolor paper using PanPastels, pastel pencils and colored pencils. It measures appx 11" x 14" and the reference photo was taken by me in 2011 just a few months before she left this earth.

I was raised in the home of a Southern Baptist minister and blessed with a loving, nurturing family. God’s blessings have been in evidence my entire life and it is His grace through Christ Jesus that has provided the abilities I have. I began drawing at a very early age and drew my first portraits in junior high school. My mother remembers me as “always having a pencil in her hand”. There were no art classes offered during high school, so I was excited to be able to attend, and earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from, Mississippi University for Women. I am currently the President of the Artist Association of the Inland Empire and will soon begin my second term. Over the past few years I've been awarded numerous awards in juried...
